Carbon black is an amorphous carbon. It is a black powder with a very large surface area ranging from 10 to 3,000 m2/g. It is a product of carbonaceous materials (coal, natural gas, heavy oil, fuel oil, etc.) that are decomposed under incomplete combustion under conditions of insufficient air. The term "gas black" made of natural gas, "lamp black" made of oil, and "acetylene black" made of acetylene. There are also "slot black" and "furnace black". According to the properties of carbon black, there are "reinforced carbon black", "conductive carbon black" and "wear-resistant carbon black". Can be used as a black dye for the manufacture of Chinese ink, ink, paint, etc., also used as a reinforcing agent for rubber.
